Deli of the Year 2011Deli of the Year Winner 2011

The judges, an independent panel of experts from the food industry including buyers, retailers and journalists, singled us out from over 120 delis (from a total of over 400 nominations).

It’s really rewarding to get this recognition for the work the team at Arch House Deli have been doing over the last 18 months in creating the type of deli we believe the people of Bristol want and deserve and we'd like to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who voted for us!

Deli of the YearThe Deli of the Year competition is an idea created and organised by Olives Et Al, an artisan food producer in Dorset, as a way of raising the awareness of delis everywhere and helping them get real feedback from their customers in a way that is both supportive and helpful to business owners.

We received fantastic feedback from our customers as part of the voting process, read what they had to say about the deli and our team

'Best New Cheese Retailer' - Runner Up 2010 - The British Cheese Awards

We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Best New Cheese Retailer 2010 runner up slot at The British Cheese Awards in Cardiff (September 2010).  Since taking over Arch House Deli just under a year ago we (David Greenman and Debbie Atherton) have put a focus on extending the range, quality and service associated with our cheese counter.

The British Cheese Awards“We have found the key to developing our business has been all about listening to customers.  Cheese, like many specialist foods, can be intimidating to the uninitiated and as a result many, in fact probably the majority of people, play safe and go for pre-wrapped supermarket mild cheddar.  By allowing customers to sample the cheese, providing plenty of point of sale information and by talking with them, and more importantly listening to them, we have been able to convert many to the delights of various artisan cheeses.”  David Greenman

The focus Arch House Deli have put on the range and quality of the cheese counter, staff training programme and exciting range of cheese related services were recognised by The British Cheese Awards against stiff competition from across the whole of the UK.

'Discover the Origin' - Winner 2009 - Speciality Food Magazine

The “Discover the Origin” campaign was to raise awareness and publicise the importance of food provenance in Deli’s and independent stores throughout the UK.

"The campaign is in its first year and to receive a winning entry of such high calibre is fantastic - the bar has definitely been set. The masterclasses and competition will be running again next year and I hope for many entries with the same flair and enthusiasm as Arch House Deli - congratulations!" - Sarah Taylor, head of the Discover the Origin Campaign.
