Pair with Shropshire Blue

Regional Alentejo.  Portugal.  £9.95

This fruity red is a blend of Portuguese varieties. It is lightly oaked to create a creamy richness producing an aromatic wine with notes of ripe wild berry fruit.

Alterra - Aconagua Valley, 2010
Dark, dense colour with intense aromas of ripe cherry and blackberry with subtle smoky nuances.  Rich and rounded with dark fruits, and hints of spicy oak.

Blend of Syrah and Grenache sourced from 30 year old vines. Blackcurrant and rich plum fruit with herbs and bramble spice dominate the nose; the palate is both elegant and intense, with a long spicy finish.

Baby–Barolo. Classic Nebbiolo notes of strawberry, cherry, rose and liquorice on the nose.  Rounded red fruits on the palate with savoury complexity on the finish.

Pair with Valdean Picos Blue

Givry 1er Cru La Servoisine.  France.  £35
Domaine Joblot, 2007
This fine wine has dense, rich Pinot Noir fruits on the nose, with very good colour for the vintage. A smoky, stylish, black-fruited delight.

Barolo Brunate.  Italy.  £45
Marcarini, 2005
An excellent offering from Marcarini, offering balance and subtlety in perfect proportion to the underlying power and strength one would hope for in a Barolo.

Grand Cru St Emilion.  France.  £55
Chateau Fombrauge, 2005
Winemaking here is excellent and the 2005 is as expected - very big, juicy and flamboyant, as per the house style.

White Wine

Arauco Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc. Chile. £8.95 - NEW
Central Valley, 202
The name Arauco comes from an indigenous people called the mapuches, who used the word to describe their land between the itata and tolten rivers.
This Sauvignon Blanc displays ripe aromas of citrus fruit and fresh cut grass, a delicious aperitif and great with seafood.

Fresh and lively citrus notes on the forward and open nose. There is also a striking minerality about this wine. The palate is delicate rather than rich, with creamy, savoury textures on the mid palate.

Sauvignon Blanc.  New Zealand.  £32.50
Cloudy Bay, 2009
A classic Cloudy Bay vintage - pure, ripe tropical fruit, lemon and lime, fresh herb undertones and a delicate, fine mineral finish.

Chablis 1er Cru.  France.   £39.95
Monte de Tonnerre.  Domaine Billaud Simon, 2006
With a rich ripe fruit palate, this is unusually soft for a Chablis but with good length and a hint of pineapple flavour. Will develop and improve for several years.

Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru.  France.  £60
Les Caillerets.  Domaine Morey Coffinet, 2006
Bright and clear pale lemon in colour, this has an intense and very complex oaky nose with a hint of citrus fruits.

Moscato D'Asti Nivole.  £9.95
Michele Chiarlo,  2011.  37.5cl
Soft gentle fizz with light fruits on the palate, made from the muscat grape giving a beautifully balanced wine.  With a low alcohol content this is a great wine for a picnic or romantic breakfast.

In our view simply the best champagne, which is why it’s the only one we stock.
